Five Most Important Things You Should Include on a Name Tag

March 12, 2015 by Quality

Name tags or name badges are one of the most important tools in the business industry. Not only that they can help build a better relationship between employees, as well as between employees and customers, but they can also become a cost effective tool for advertising. However, the problem today is most companies spend large fortune in printing name tags with so much clutter (colors, accessories, pictures, etc), making them like souvenirs. Little do they know that those kinds of name tags are of no value. Cluttering your name badge makes them hard to read. Putting what only necessary on a name tag can help you meet new clients and grow your business. Here are what to include:

Design Quality

Remember, first impression lasts. Before anyone ever looks at the information included on your name badge, they will begin to form an opinion of your company simply by looking at the design of your name badge. So it’s very important to invest some time and energy to think about the best design that will make not only make your name badge stand out, but will also leave a lasting good impression to your potential customers. Remember that no matter how good your service is, a name tag that is unprofessional in appearance can blow your opportunity to acquire new clients.

Name

Of course, it’s very crucial to have your name included on the name badge. (That’s why it’s called a name badge!) Your clients should know who that person they’re dealing with is. Ideally, your badge lettering should be large enough to read from a distance (at least about ten feet away). Well, some people say to print name tags with only a first name, or with the first name larger and the last name smaller, but for us, it’s crucial to include them both with same font size. In that way, you will be remembered by your potential clients more effectively.

Title

A name badge must also have some sort of indication of what is you do, whether you’re a volunteer, a speaker, a professor, or an accountant. Without this, the people you will meet will have no idea what it is that you offer, which may lose your chance to acquire new clients. Remember, most people won’t ask you what you do; if you really want to make sales and get new customers, you should inform the people what services you offer. Otherwise, they will just ignore you and go to those who they know can give what they need.

Company Name

There are usually two things that people who is networking at events or looking for services what to know: your name and your company. So, have your company name also listed on your name badge, whether it’s a Payroll Services Australia or a HealthCare Clinic Canada. We recommend that you print your company name slightly smaller than your name. For instance, if your name is detailed in at least 36-point type, your company name should be in at least 24-point type. Also make your company name a slightly different in color, so that your potential customers can easily distinguish what company you represent.

Company Logo

In addition to your name, title, and company name, you would also want to include your company’s logo on your name badge. It’s also a great way to start a conversation. But remember to place your logo at the right position, preferably at the bottom with smaller than the font size used for your name and your company name.
