Fun Ideas for Kids’ Nametags

February 18, 2017 by Quality

As grownups we probably get a little bored by the nametags we are forced to wear at work. They are generally pretty humdrum looking, if we are honest. So, when it comes to making nametags for kids, it makes a lot of sense to develop fun ideas. You want your kids to enjoy the presence of their nametags so that they will keep them in view. Therefore, we have created a pretty nifty list of fun ideas for kids’ nametags.

Before you move onto that list though, it is important to consider childhood & baby photography. Newborns are immediately fitted with nametags, or identification bracelets, to ensure that they are not abducted or switched. So, as children get older, and are required to utilize nametags, having professional photos in print form is an excellent idea. We want to protect our kids at every level and in every space. Getting a professional photographer to take tangible photos will help guarantee that safety.

  1. Pencil Labels– Kids who are learning to write might appreciate nametags that are shaped like pencils. These are whimsical and can be any color you like.
  2. PowerPoint WordArt- Once kids have learned how to use a computer, teach them to make their names in PowerPoint. They can use WordArt to create unusual shapes and fonts that will be more representative of their personalities than a simple tag.
  3. Superhero Nametags– These are shaped like flying superheroes, capes trailing behind. They come in a variety of ethnicities. Kids can write their own names on the tags.
  4. Nature’s Names– Take the kids on a nature walk. Have them pick up bits of plants, leaves, rocks, etc. Then shape those items into the letters of their names. These make great desk nametags, or the kind they like to hang on their bedroom doors. Learn more.
  5. Stained Glass– Have the kids write their names in all caps. Then with different colors, fill in all the spaces making the name look like a piece of stained glass.
  6. Wood Slices– Paint some chalkboard paint on wood slices and then let the kids write their names in chalk. You can coat later if you want to protect the name.
  7. Keyrings– Though not really a name tag, personalized key rings are a cool idea for kids to carry with them.
  8. Caterpillar Nametags- Cut out enough circles for the letters in the child’s name, plus one extra for the face. Write each letter on a circle and then glue them in the shape of a caterpillar. Draw the face, and add some pipe cleaner antennae.
  9. Rainbow Nametags– In black ink, write the child’s name. Then give out several different markers. Have the child write around the outside of each letter in one color and then keep doing that, alternating colors, until the name looks like a rainbow.
  10. Popsicle Easels- Make easels out of popsicles and then post the nametags on the easels.
