When I went to my most recent business convention, I was not sure what to expect. What I typically find are people that aren’t aware how much wearing a branded nametag will actually help their business. I ran into a gentleman that ran both an online shaving business as well as an online website that reviews different types of shaving products. He was nice enough, even gave me a tour of some of his competitors like this site, http://www.razorfoundation.co/, that reviews the best straight razors. He pointed to this particular page here: http://www.razorfoundation.co/the-best-straight-razor-for-shaving/ as one of the primary competitors of his site. It was all great information but the funny thing was after talking with him for 30 minutes, I still had no clue who in the heck he was or what his name happened to be! After I explained to him the idea of proper business branding and told him how most professionals that go to business events wear nametags, he understood that it would be in his best interest to make an investment and hear what I had to say.
As a result, I was able to generate over 200 orders I never would have had the chance to generate had I not attended this convention. I guess my point is not only to showcase that you should have a customized branded nametag for no matter what business you run, but it’s also to showcase that you can attend lots of events socially in the world of business and end up getting clients that you never expected you’d have the chance to get. Attending this convention was not only a great social event for us, but it was a great social event for this client. It could have been even better if he had done his due diligence and presented his business as a formal brand with custom nametags or other business “chotchkies” that he’d be able to present to anyone interested in hearing more about his business.
There are several ways you can promote your business outside running with a customized nametag, but this should be one of of the things you make an investment in first, especially if you run a Brick and Mortar business. How will your customers identify you without proper branding? Nametags are cheap and effective and a great way to set yourself apart from your competitors that might be in the same space. Overall this experience opened the small business owners eyes as even though most of his business is done online, it was a nice discussion on how he could improve his branding with his clients in the future.
