Why Real Estate Professionals Should Wear Name Tags

March 1, 2017 by Quality

Deciding which professionals need name tags and which don’t is often subjective. However, there is a strong case for why a real estate professional should consider investing in a quality name tag. And, while some of the reasons may seem obvious, a few of them aren’t what most people would consider.

So, if you are a real estate professional considering whether a name tag makes sense for you, here are some reasons why you should make the investment.

It’s Comforting

Many real estate professionals meet their clients in person for the first time somewhere other than the office. Since many homebuyers begin their house hunting online, it isn’t uncommon for their interactions with a real estate professional to begin there as well. And while many real estate professionals have their picture on their website, that isn’t always something that sticks with the homebuyer. Having a name tag helps reassure a potential buyer that you are in fact the person they spoke with previously. And while it may be a small difference, it can be a comforting one.

Additionally, real estate professionals spend a decent amount of their time coming in and out of other people’s properties. Wearing a name tag while you do so can help keep neighbors or homeowners from being as uncomfortable with your presence. You are clearly displaying who you are, and it helps make your intention clear to the casual observer.

Why Real Estate Professionals Should Wear Name Tags

It Can Increase Business

If someone spots you showing a home, and they are considering entering the market as a buyer or a seller, a name tag can help them identify you quickly. That means, when they decide it is time to contact a real estate agent, they may have an easier time recalling your name.

Often, it takes multiple exposures to something like a person’s name to help it stick in a person’s memory. That means, every time they see it, you are reinforcing it in their minds. And that could help them remember you more easily when they need the services of a real estate professional.

It Confirms Associations

If you work for a specific real estate company, and that name is also displayed on your name tag, not only can people more easily remember your name, but they may also have an easier time finding you. Being able to connect a person to a name and a business can be both reassuring and may lead to more business. So, instead of just adding your name, list your agency as well.

Another way to make a connection is by listing the area in which you focus your efforts. Consider listing a city, county, or region to help connect your name with your service location. Besides, it doesn’t take much more space to say “John Smith, Carson Valley Real Estate” instead of just a name. And anything that makes you easier to remember can work in your favor.

It Makes You Approachable

Wearing a name tag can make you seem more approachable, regardless of your profession. It acts as an invitation to engage you in conversation and may even make you seem friendlier. And, when you work in a service-oriented business, all of those things can be a great benefit. So, why not consider giving a name tag a shot? It’s a small gesture, but it can reap significant rewards.
